As I step down as Director, I want to thank everyone who has lent their support to the Trust during my ten years or so in post, and to welcome Professor Anna Vignoles as my successor.
It has been a privilege to work for Leverhulme and I have enjoyed my time here immensely. The Trust is often a truly career-changing grant-maker for those researchers and artists who receive its awards. It succeeds because of the efforts of the talented and hard-working Leverhulme staff, the encouragement and guidance provided by the Trustees, and the enthusiasm and wisdom of the thousands of grant holders, advisors and peer reviewers who each year engage with our activities. I extend my gratitude to you all and also my best wishes for the future as we emerge from a difficult year that has been so dominated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
I am delighted to welcome Anna Vignoles to the Leverhulme community as the new Director of the Trust. I expect that she will be introducing herself to many of you over the coming months and I feel sure that she will be offered the same generous support from the extended Leverhulme family as it has been my fortune to enjoy.
Thank you.
Professor Gordon Marshall
