Our people

The Leverhulme Trust has a team of 19 specialists in grants management, communications, office services, and finance and investment. The senior management team is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organisation.

Senior Management Team

Professor Anna Vignoles CBE FBA

Director since 2021.

Anna was Professor of Education at the University of Cambridge before joining the Trust. An economist of education, her research focused on issues of equity and value in education, and the role played by education and skills in the economy and wider society. She was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 2017 and awarded a CBE in 2019 for services to social sciences. Anna is a member of the Council of the Royal Economic Society and was previously a Trustee of the Nuffield Foundation, a Member of the Council of the Economic and Social Research Council and a Member of the Advisory Board of the Sutton Trust. 

Dr Tracey Henshaw

Assistant Director since 2018.

Tracey completed her first degrees thanks to the Open University and Birkbeck and alongside a career in the NHS. After completing her PhD in 2001 in Antarctic Microbial Ecology, Tracey went on to a number of roles in research management, including for the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the British Library, and the Natural Environment Research Council. Immediately prior to joining the Trust, Tracey worked as Director of Operations for the School of Public Health and the Centre for Clinical Research at the University of Queensland, and for the Research Institutes at Brunel University London. Tracey has recently joined the Programme Executive Group for the NERC Changing the Environment initiative.

Paul Read FCCA FCT FRSA

Investment Director since 2022 (Director of Finance 2007–2022).

Paul is qualified as both an accountant and a corporate treasurer. Prior to moving to the charity sector in 2004, Paul held senior corporate treasury positions for several multinational corporations. He has served as a Trustee for a number of charities and pension funds, including Blueprint for All (formerly Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust).

Elizabeth Dymond CBE FCA

Director of Finance since 2022.

Elizabeth is a qualified chartered accountant. She worked in the private sector and the public sector, including at HM Treasury, before taking her first paid role in the charity sector in 2016 as Director of Finance and Corporate Services at the Charity for Civil Servants. She is a trustee and Treasurer at Girlguiding UK having previously held these roles at Victim Support. She has the ICAEW Diploma in Charity Accounting (DChA) as a result of her PGDip in Charity Accounting and Management from Cass (now Bayes) Business School.
