Photographing archaeology
As Artist in Residence at the Department of Archaeology, University of Sheffield, I will be working alongside staff and students in the materials labs and on fieldwork projects. I aim to use the photography to visually explore the theoretical and methodological approaches used by archaeologists to interpret the past. I also hope that archaeologists might be able to gain fresh insights about their own discipline from the theory and practice of photography. Read full article
Exploring a concrete future
As a sculptor working with fluid materials and flexible membranes I find myself engaged in a laboratory style process within my studio. However my experiments are frustrated by my limited understanding of basic physics and chemistry, my lack of equipment (I currently mix my concrete in a large plastic tub by hand), my physical strength and my lack of space. Darkness visible
From September 2010 through to September 2011 I have been funded by the Leverhulme Trust to be an Artist in Residence at Christ’s College Cambridge. This will be a return to Christ’s, having previously held the Levy Plumb Visual Arts Award in 2008/09. This position will see me work on a new body of paintings which take Milton’s ‘Paradise Lost’ as their starting point. It is from this tradition that I will look to develop my work, with the aid of current academics such as Dr. Sophie Read.

Plant morphogenesis revisited
I have taken up residency in the Cardiff School of biosciences, where I seek to exploit its facilities for plant growth, the green houses and plant growth rooms, within the school. I am a visual artist investigating the topics of plant morphogenesis, altered growth patterns and new mechanism of plant development in collaboration with the different teams of plant scientists at the School, to create a new body of work. Embarrassment, Sport and Performance
As artist in residence at the School of Human and Life Sciences at Roehampton University, I am working closely with Cecilia Essau, Professor of Developmental Psychopathology. Roehampton University and specifically Whitelands College, where the School of Human and Life Sciences is located has had a long involvement in research and training in child-centred therapies and sports education.
